Nathan R. Gove, Executive Director 651-201-7788, nathan.gove@state.mn.us The Executive Director reports to a fifteen-member Board appointed by the Governor. He directs the licensing system for Minnesota's 10,500-plus state, county and municipal peace officers and part-time officers. The licensing system includes components of minimum selection criteria, professional standards, continuing education, complaint investigation, and the rule-making process. He also collaborates with law enforcement agencies, higher education programs, the legislature, and the Office of the Governor on issues germane to POST functions and responsibilities.

Erik C. Misselt, Assistant Executive Director 651-201-7789, erik.misselt@state.mn.us  The Assistant Executive Director directs and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the POST Board staff and their projects.  With the Executive Director, he supervises agency support staff and works to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of core service delivery.  He also serves as Acting Director in the absence of the Executive Director.

Mark Bloom, Standards Coordinator 651-201-7780, mark.bloom@state.mn.us The Standards Coordinators conduct reviews of law enforcement agencies to ensure compliance with POST Board rules, policies, and statutes as well as investigate alleged violations of peace officer standards of conduct, minimum selection standards, and unauthorized practice. They also assist state and local units of government comply with POST Board and statutory requirements. The Standards Coordinators serve as a resource by providing information to chief law enforcement officers who have questions regarding administrative rules, POST Board jurisdiction and authority related to standards of conduct for licensed peace officers, and information and referrals to citizens who may have questions about alleged peace officer misconduct.

Board Members
The fifteen member Board establishes the purpose and policy of the organization by defining parameters in which it will operate, providing for attainment of goals, and monitoring the attainment of goals. The Board acts as "one voice" on policy setting and the staff of the Board carries out the implementation of those policies and directions.
The Chair is a Board member who is named by the Governor (MN STAT 626.841). In the absence of the Chair, the Vice-Chair serves. The Vice-Chair is elected for a twelve month term by the entire Board by majority vote at the first meeting of the Board after new Board members are appointed each year.

The Board functions as a voting body and each member has one vote. Members are expected to have a working knowledge of state government in general, the Board's scope and mission, administrative rules, the Board's bylaws, and rules of the organization. Members should strive to maintain the best interests of the citizens of the state in their decision making.
