Teams of attorneys, investigators and county employees have worked full time since Oct. 27, redacting information that state law says can't be released to the public. They've read through 37,000-40,000 pages of investigative reports. Twice. ..."Because there has been so much interest and so much debate about it, we think it's especially important to be 100 percent transparent on this and make sure it all gets out there and people can make their own judgments on that," Kendall said. Before beginning the review of the case file, Kendall asked the state's Information Policy Analysis Division for direction and guidance on what information should be redacted and how quickly the work needed to be done. "I could see easily with personnel hours reaching $200,000," said Bruce Bechtold, chief deputy in the Stearns County Sheriff's Office. The county recently received about 3,000 pages of transcribed interviews from audio and video recordings that had to be sent to a Blaine company to be digitized and then to an Arizona company to be transcribed. That will cost about $15,000 when it's done. Initially there were between 5-13 people working full-time to read and redact information protected from release under the state Data Practices laws. ... There likely won't ever be a definite and accurate cost of the hours spent preparing the file, and there won't be any reimbursement to the departments from which the workers come.  Wetterling documents cost: $200,000 David Unze , dunze@stcloudtimes.com Published 2:36 p.m. CT March 24, 2017 | Updated 2:36 p.m. CT March 24, 2017 http://www.sctimes.com/story/news/local/2017/03/24/wetterling-documents-cost-200000/99574272/
